Fun Trivia
- Keeping the racers and spectators safe is taken very seriously by our committee members. The placing and positioning of the 700 bales of hay is not random. Consideration is made for expected speeds and potential hazards in various locations as well as determination of the best alignment of the bales to provide optimal protection. Live crash tests have been conducted in order to design and ensure effectiveness of the run-out barricades at the end of the track.
- Cars traveling at 50 kph cover approx. 14 meters (46 ft) per second. Cars traveling at 60 kph cover approx. 17 meters (55 ft) per second.
- The closest race in our history was in 2001 when K. James in car # 78 in lane 2 raced R. Saliken in car # 21 in lane 3. They raced the full 0.7 km track finishing in a dead heat (tie) to one one-thousandth of a second. Their times were 1min. and 0.598 sec. each. Both drivers went on to win second place awards, K. James in the junior and R. Saliken in the senior divisions.
